Commonly referred to as Brazilian oak although not in the oak family, Amburana is a soft, porous, sugar-laden wood known for imparting strong notes of vanilla, cacao, cinnamon icing, candied ginger, and burnt sugar. Because of the potency of Amburana we taste these barrels on an almost weekly basis to ensure there isn't an overexposure to the wood.
